Ben Geren Golf Course

Ben Geren Golf Course is the most played golf course in the river valley. Consisting of a 285-acre, twenty-seven (27)-hole course, which offers MiniVerde ultradwarf bermudagrass greens, bermudagrass tees and fairways and native tall grass prairie. With its native prairie setting, Ben Geren offers a unique golf experience for experienced and beginner golfers, featuring a variety of native wildflowers, grasses and wildlife.

Ben Geren Park occupies 1,300 acres of gently-rolling land with many recreational opportunities in the southeastern part of the Fort Smith. The development of Ben Geren Park began in 1966 when the land became available from Fort Chaffee Military Reservation. The original 18-hole golf course, the Magnolia and Willow nines and clubhouse were developed in 1971, with assistance from the U.S. Bureau of Outdoor Recreation, and opened in 1972. An additional nine holes were added in 1995 as the Silo course, designed by golf course architect Jeff Brauer. Ben Geren Park was named after Ben Geren, who was the Sebastian County Judge at the time of development.
